Fame #TopTenThursday

Welcome to this week's #TopTenThursday. This is a fun writing challenge, that is hosted by Tamara of Confessions of a part-time working mom. Her, myself, and other bloggers, come together and post weekly Top Ten lists, which we create based on a chosen topic. I hope you enjoy reading my list, as much as I loved creating it.

Last week, we made a list of our Top Ten Things We'd Save if Our Home Were On Fire. This week, we are revealing our Top Ten Favorite Famous People. They can be living or dead. Really anything goes. So, if you know me at all, you probably already know, I am so EXCITED about this topic!! Like... I am doing a happy dance as I type this!! I am not super into famous people, or anything, but I love opportunities to discuss *MATT DAMON*.

Without further ado, in mostly random order, here are my top ten favorite famous people...

1. MATT DAMON. Matthew Paige Damon. Do I really need to say more?! Of course I do. LOL So, yes, Matt Damon is undeniably my favorite famous person. He is basically my favorite famous person ever. He is really my favorite human. Gigi is slightly higher on my list of famous humans, but just slightly. I would LOVE to be his best friend. I am certain he is an awesome friend. He is an awesome human being. I just know he would make my life better, just by existing within it. He is a remarkable person. He is intelligent, talented, kind, and wonderful. I love how he uses his celebrity status for good. I love how he has maintained his integrity. I love how he does so much good in this world. He will genuinely make this world a better place in his lifetime, and he has already started. Plus, I love his movies. He is just the best, and he is my favorite. Okay? Okay.

(Images from Google/ He is worth every cent!)

2. Robert Nesta Marley. Bob Marley. He is one of my heroes, and one of my favorite human beings to ever live. So many people just associate him with marijuana, and that makes me sad. He was so much more! So, so, so much more! He was so wise and full of love. I am so against racism and judging others. I believe in loving others, and spreading love and peace. He was such a beautiful soul. Plus, his music is amazing. His song "Waiting in Vain" is my most favorite song EVER. His lyrics are fantastic, and don't get me started on the rhythms. He stood for some of the best things in the world. He stood for peace, harmony, love. He stood against hate and judgement and violence. He did so much good in the short time he was on Earth. He changed lives, and his legacy is living on. It lives on through his music and his children. You should totally go to his website and buy stuff from their shop. For one, a portion of the proceeds go to the 1Love.org charity!! Plus, I own many of their shoes and headphones. They are AMAZING quality. Also, seriously, do not delay... Try Marley Coffee NOW!!! You will NOT be disappointed. He was so amazing. I am so sad that I never got to meet him, or hear him perform live. My fingers are crossed I get to attend a concert one day, in Heaven.

3. Ellen. Ellen DeGeneres. She is so famous, that I really did not even need to say her last name. She is also very kind and generous. She is hilarious. I am a sucker for people who can make me laugh. She is genuinely awesome. She really tries to make the world a better place, and fights against hate. She loves to help others. She is so amazing, and I would love to know her personally. I think being her friend would be AMAZING. Something tells me, she would keep me laughing constantly. I absolutely adore her. She is so incredibly funny, and she is so famous, but she has never become full of herself. I absolutely adore her. She does so much good!!

4. Robin Williams. If you read my blog post back in 2014, after he died, you probably already know I love Robin Williams (Bob is mentioned as well). I say I love him, because I do. He may be gone, but he still lives in my heart. He has gifted me with so much laughter and wisdom over the years. He will forever be one of my favorite comedians. He was a remarkable human being. He was beyond famous, but always remained humble. His death really showed us all, that we never truly know what struggles others are enduring. His death hit me hard, even though I never met him in person. He is one of my favorite actors of all-time. His films are some of my very favorites. He was so beautiful. A true treasure.

5. Julia Roberts. I love her. So very very much. She is an amazing actress, and a beautiful person. My list of favorite movies, contains most of her movies. I just absolutely adore her. I adore how kind and authentic she is. I love her despite her insane level of fame, she stays true to who she is. She is just an awesome actress and person. She is another person, who I would love to be best friends with.

6. Emma Watson. I adore her so very much. She was amazing as Hermione. She is also just an awesome human being. The way she stands for her beliefs, so unapologetically, yet respects others, is amazing. She is going to do so many amazing things in her lifetime. I can just tell. She is AMAZING. I adore her. She will champion some of the changes this world so badly needs, and she will do it with poise and integrity.

7. Keanu Reeves. Keanu is extremely talented. I adore him as an actor. He is also an awesome human being. He has never let his fame get to his head. He does a lot of humanitarian work, and makes lots of donations. He has taken cuts in pay, just to ensure movies can be made well, and with everyone getting fair compensation. He has known great personal loss, and sadly I can relate to it. He is just an awesome person. It would be an honor to know him, and be his friend.

8. Wally Lamb. I absolute adore Wally. He is the author of my favorite book, "She's Come Undone". His writing helped to heal my soul, and led me to follow my heart and write. He writes wonderful books, and he is genuinely a wonderful human being. If you have not read his books, I strongly recommend them! You will definitely thank me later!

9. Mother Teresa of Calcutta. I feel like this one needs no explanation. She was one of the most amazing people ever. She was completely selfless. She was wise beyond her years. She was a truly beautiful soul. I love her so much. I am grateful she was recently made a Saint. Well deserved.

10. Willie Nelson. I love him. I just absolutely love him. His music is some of my favorite music ever. I love the humanitarian work he does. I don't do regrets, but I have admitted, a day will come when I regret never having seen him in concert. It is on my Bucket List, to see him live, and to shake his hand and thank him for the music. I really need to do it, as I know opportunites to do so will end. I just never have the money for tickets, and the last two times he was close, I could not take the time away from Gigi. I still have hope, and maybe my wish will come true. His music means so much to me. He is an awesome man. His talent is undeniable, and not matched or exceeded by many.

Summer's End #PoetryCollaboration

Welcome to this month's poetry collaboration! Last month, we chose the theme 'Wacky and Weird'. This month, we chose the theme 'Back to school'. Hopefully, you enjoy my contribution! Don't forget to check out all the other contributions, using the links at the end of my post!

Poem 1 (School):

Stressing out.
Chemistry, Calculus, Computer Science, Choir.
Hitting the books nightly.
Outstanding performance during gym.
Ogling your crush from afar.
Learning all you can.

Poem 2 (First Day):

It's the day I have been dreading since you were born.
Your first day of school.
The first day, of me leaving you, and you not needing me as much.
The day your independence truly begins.
You will learn so many things.
Your brain will be filled with knowledge.
Your future will start to form.
Your teachers and your friends will become important figures in your life.
I will no longer be the most  important person in your life.
Soon, I will no longer be your best friend.
You are full of excitment and I am full of worry.
I know this is great for both of us.
I just will take more time to adjust than you.
Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for you.
I am just a bit sad too.
I am so proud of you.
My little girl is now a student.
Soon, your nights will be full of studying, and less time to play with Mommy.
Soon, you will be graduating, and leaving home for college.
Soon, you will be a young woman.
So, for now, I will cling to you being little, as long as I can.
Just know, I will always love you, and I am always here for you.
If you need help with homework, or help studying for the big test, come to me.
If you need to vent about your friend not wanting to share toys with you, come to me.
If you need advice about boys, come to me.
If you need your mommy, just know I will always be here.
Long before you were a student, you were my baby.
No matter how grown and smart you become, you will always be my baby.
So, happy first day of school.
Happy first day of the rest of your life.

Nurtured Nature Sept 2016 #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This month, eleven brave bloggers submitted a secret subject for someone else, and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today, we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:
Do you think people are born with their personality/character traits, or do they acquire them?
It was submitted by: Tamara of Confessions of a part-time working mom

This is such an interesting subject. I don't have a cut and dry answer. This is a place with lots of gray areas for me. I definitely think a lot of who we are, is because of our genetics. I also believe a lot of who we are is based on how we are raised, and the things we go through.

I grew up thousands of miles away from my mother, and yet I share some of the same character traits. I believe they exist within me, thanks to the genes my mom passed onto me. There are other parts of my character, that I genuinely feel exist within me, simply because of my life experiences.

I feel like I am the person I am today, not just because of who my parents are, though that obviously plays a part in it, but because of who I've met, and what I have experienced. Everyone who has been a part of my life, has left their mark on my life. Some for the good, and some for the bad. Either way, these relationships, no matter how significant or insignificant, have helped create the person I am today.

I genuinely feel, that human beings are not born with hate inside of them. I feel that  hate forms based on experiences and teachings. Racism is a perfect example. I do not think anyone is born with an inherited racism gene. I feel that racists become racist based on their experiences. I think the same can be said for manners. If we are taught proper manners, we can be polite individuals. If someone isn't taught manners, obviously they will lack in politeness. I also think that this can be guided by our genes. Maybe you aren't taught manners, but eventually, you will experience proper manners, and learn what is polite. Then, if you have no genetic predisposition to be a rude person, you should easily be able to pick up the good manners. However, if you inherited the rude genes, you probably would not care about politeness and good manners.

I hope that makes sense. I guess I am saying that I feel both, your genetics and your experiences, form your personality and character. I don't know if either one has a bigger impact, but if I had to choose one that did, I would choose experiences. I think many people often change a great deal after they move out of their parent's home. I know part of it is simply the aging process. I think a big part is also the experiences they go through.

I know people who grew up with one political affiliation (the same as their parents), but after living away from their parents, their affiliation changed. Yes, they grew up, but also they were away from the constant influence of their parents. They had time to experience and learn things, and form their own opinions. The same can be said about religious affiliations.

At the end of the day, I also think we can overcome heredity. I know people who are like their parents, in negative ways, but they are so motivated to be better/different, they overcome genetics. A good example would be physical fitness. Someone very close to me struggled with their weight, just as their entire family does, but they are one of the most fit people I know. Not because they are naturally fit, but because they work very hard to be fit. They make healthy choices, and work out with determination and dedication. So, yes, I think even some hereditary traits can be overcome, with enough determination.

I am sorry this is such a jumbled mess. I just have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. I hope you can understand my basic opinion. If not, feel free to ask for clarification.

What about you?! Do you think your personality/character is hereditary? Acquired? I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Engine Number Nine #TopTenThursday

Welcome to this week's #TopTenThursday. This is a fun writing challenge, that is hosted by Tamara of Confessions of a part-time working mom. Her, myself, and other bloggers, come together and post weekly Top Ten lists, which we create based on a chosen topic. I hope you enjoy reading my list, as much as I loved creating it.

Last week, we made a list of our Top Ten Favorite Places in Our Hometown. This week, we are revealing our Top Ten Things We'd Save if Our Home Were On Fire. Last week, I had a challenging time coming up with a list about my hometown. This week, not quite so difficult. There are many things I would want to save, if my home were on fire, so the challenge is to narrow it down to just ten. We were given the stipulation, that all people and pets have already been brought to safety, so we just need to save ten things.

So, without further delay, here are the top ten things I'd save from a fire, in random order....

1. My purse. It is full of my important cards and paperwork. My planner is usually in there, and I tend to have some makeup and toiletries. So, it would definitely be coming with me to safety. I would maintain access to my money and my medical cards. It is definitely important.

2. My lock boxes. I have two. One contains my medicines and one contains important things, like our birth certificates and other documents, as well has some precious keepsakes from Gigi's birth. If I were unable to carry both, I would just save the one with my medicines. The other one is fireproof.

3. Clothes for us. I would just grab a basket of whatever. Something to wear, is better than nothing to wear.

4. My Bob Marley glasses that Chad bought me. I have only drank out of one of them once. I keep them safe and sound in the cabinet above the stove. I love them so much, that I don't dare use them, for fear of breaking them. Maybe one day, we will live in a house big enough for them to be displayed.

5. A handful of Gigi's favorite toys. I think having toys she is attached to, will help her cope with losing so many other things.

6. The bin of Gigi's baby keepsakes. It contains a few special outfits and some special toys. I hope to give them to her one day, for use with her children.

7. My necklace that is honor of Kateri. Minette from Southern Belle Charm made it for me, and it is very special to me. I do not wear it 24/7, for fear of breaking it. I put it on when I leave, so that Kateri is with me. It has become an item of comfort. It has a pendant on it that says "Your wings were ready but my heart was not". I am hoping to buy a few more from her, as I have a few of something happening to this one.

8. My electronics and chargers. This would include my laptop, phone, camera, and Polaroid Zip printer. These together contain all my pics of our family, and of Gigi. I absolutely would not want to lose these things.

9. My coffee maker and coffee. I would try to save both of them, our Keurig and our espresso machine. Worst case scenario, I would just save the espresso machine. It is brand new. Our Keurig is older, and there are newer ones out. Replacing it would not be so bad.

10. My pillows and blankets. I am sure it seems silly, but it will definitely help me to rest well, in the days after the fire.

I have lost everything twice in the past, due to fires. The first one was my freshman year of high school. There was a fire in the dorm room across from mine, and everything of mine was lost, except for a few items of clothing. It was devastating. The second fire was in 2006. It happened a few days after I had moved into a new apartment. My landlords had installed some lighting on their own, and the wiring caught fire. I lost everything, including my pets (Jakob, my beloved cat, and my beloved hamster Brutus). It was devastating. Everything gone. My landlords really screwed me over, and it took me a very long time to get back on my feet. I would have died in the 2006 fire, but fortunately I was not home. It was a true blessing, because that was the first night in years, that I went out and visited friends.

I genuinely hope none of you ever experience a fire, but if you did, what things would you save?! Do we have similar lists?!

Sacred Serenity, #BookReview and #Giveaway

So, as I am sure you have figured out by now, if you have been reading my blog for any length of time, I am an avid reader. I have always been one. I was the kid that got in trouble, for staying up late to read. I would get caught with a flashlight and a book, under my covers, and my dad would get so frustrated. Reading has just always been my thing. I would much rather read than sleep. Of course, once the morning comes and I am exhausted, I feel a bit differently about it, but inevitably, I end up choosing reading over sleep again and again. I am always looking for new books to read, and I am lucky to have some friends who are also avid readers, and they often introduce me to new books or authors.

This is true for my friend Stephanie. She is friends with an author named Audrey Carlan. A few years ago, she started telling me about Audrey's  Calendar Girl series, and how I should read them. I put it on my to read list, but never quite got around to them. They eventually made national headlines, and made it onto the NYT Best Seller's list. How amazing is that? My friend is friends with a best selling author, and long before she was a best selling author, my friend tried to tell me she was a must read author, and well, I should have listened.

Recently, Stephanie once again brought up Audrey's books to me. She tagged me in a post on Facebook, for advanced release copies of one of her upcoming books. It was for 'Sacred Serenity', Book Two in the Lotus House series. Well, this time when Stephanie told me this was a series I needed in on, I listened. I submitted a request to be considered for an ARC of the book, and crossed my fingers. Well, I owe Stephanie a HUGE thank you, because I was chosen to receive an ARC, and that led me to here. Right now, writing this post for you all to read.

I was a bit nervous at first. I realized that I was going to be reading a book, written by one of my closest friends good friend. What if I hated it?! Not only would I have to tell my friend, that I thought her friend was a horrible writer, but I would need to tell the author I thought she was horrible, and I did not want to give a review. Then I realized, you don't just become a New York Times Best Selling Author, if you write like a two year old with no grasp of plot structure. So, I dove in headfirst and read the book. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. By the end of the third chapter, I did not want to stop reading it.

Listen, the short of it.... Go out and get this book, and read it. Buy it for your Kindle or Nook. Buy a paperback or hardcover. Whatever your preference is, get this book in that prefered form. Right now, today. Seriously.

This book was a wonderful book. When I first read it, after receiving my ARC of it, I had not read the first book, and it was fine. I did not have a hard time following along or understanding the story. Now, you may want to get the first book in the series, and then read this one. That is fine. I had no issues by reading them in reversed order, this second book first.

The story is wonderful. It is wonderfully written. It is different from any other books I have read. I love when I find books that have unique plots, not ones that have been written time and time again, by various different authors, telling the basic same plot in their own words. Now, being an insatiable bookworm, that is fine with me. As long as it isn't boring or horribly written, I will read it, even if it is basically the same plot of three other books. Well, that is not what you get with this book. Audrey is a truly wonderful writer, who writes out a unique story for us to follow.

She goes so indepth, building the plot, developing the characters. It is a true joy to read. I found myself not only not wanting to put the book down, but not wanting the story to end. I wanted more, more, more. More of the story. More of the characters. More of it all. It was that deliciously captivating. It is genuinely a well written book.

I would also like to add, I am not exactly sure how she did it, but I went from being a person who was vaguely curious about yoga, to a person who absolutely must try yoga, as soon as I am able. How does one do that? I am not sure, but she did it. The way she weaved yoga into the story, so subtle, yet so front and center... Well, it did the job. I am convinced I need yoga in my life. So, be prepared, that this may also be a side effect for you.

You will love the plot. You will enjoy the story. You will fall in love with the characters. You will find yourself wanting more. You will no doubt, find yourself thanking me for telling you about this book. If you have not read anything by Audrey Carlan before, I strongly recommend you add her to your lists of authors to read. She is talented and it shines through in her books.

Now, if you are on the fence about romance novels, I think this is the one for you. She has this way of writing the romance, in a way that it isn't corny or raunchy. It is well balanced. She gives enough details, without giving too many. Plus, yes it is a sexy romance novel, but it is also a novel. It tells a story. It isn't just page after page of sexiness. There is an honest, wonderful story included. I think it is the perfect middle ground for all readers. If you hate raunchy romance novels, you will love this. If you love raunchy romance novels, you will love this. She really balances it all perfectly.

Continue reading to learn more details about the book, the author, and to enter a giveaway!!

I hope you love this book, as much as I did!! It is definitely a book worth reading!!

Don't forget to let me know what you think about it, once you have read it!!

Home, Where the Heart Is #TopTenThursday

Welcome to this week's #TopTenThursday. This is a fun writing challenge, that is hosted by Tamara of Confessions of a part-time working mom. Her, myself, and other bloggers, come together and post weekly Top Ten lists, which we create based on a chosen topic. I hope you enjoy reading my list, as much as I loved creating it.

Last week, we made a list of our Top Ten Rules. This week, we are revealing our Top Ten Favorite Places in our Hometown. Last week, I had an easy time picking rules for my top ten list, so much so I made two lists. This week, not quite so easy. Here is the thing... I really do not know which town is my "hometown".

I have moved a lot in my lifetime. I have lived in many states (CT, NC, MA, NH, NY, RI, WY, CA, IN, NJ...) and many towns. I was born in New London, CT, and I did briefly live there for about two months, in 2007, but I really know nothing about it, and have spent very little time there. It just happens to be where I was born. So, I don't consider it my hometown. I spent about seven years in North Carolina, while I was young, and often I feel like North Carolina is "home", but the place I most consider to be my first home, was not really in a town. I lived in the country, on a road named for my family, in a place that wasn't a town, but more of a farming community. I did live in several towns, while in North Carolina, and I do have fond memories of North Carolina.

The other two places I spent a huge portion of my childhood in, are Wyoming and Connecticut. After leaving North Carolina, I moved to Wyoming, and stayed there for the majority of my middle school years. I moved to Connecticut just before my fourteenth birthday, and remained there until after I graduated high school. I am very attached to Connecticut. I was born there. So, part of me almost thinks the town I spent the majority of my time in there, would possibly be my hometown.

So, when trying to think of TEN places to have as a favorite, well, I cannot think of ten. I just cannot. I am not sure there is any place with ten places I LOVE. Another option that was given, was the Top Ten Places we will miss if we move from where we currently live. Again, when I think about where I live, I cannot think of ten favorite places or ten places I would miss. Is that horrible? I guess it is because a few of my favorite places (Starbucks, Costco, the park...) are places that are not only here. They are places I can have, nearly anywhere I live.

So, this weeks list was very difficult for me. So, like last week, I have decided to do more than one list. So, without further ado, in random order....

Top Ten Favorite Places in California:

(I need to preface this by saying, I have not been many places here. I have really not even scratched the surface, but I have visited plenty of places that I genuinely LOVE! So much so, that even though I have only lived here since August 5, 2008, I have grown attached to this state. Which is saying something, because I really do not know many people here, and I tend to grow attached to people more than places.)

1. San Francisco. I strongly urge everyone to visit San Francisco, if you get the opportunity. It is a wonderful city. It is beautiful. It is full of awesome things to see, do, and places to eat. There are Piers that you can visit. My favorite is Pier 39. It is so fun. Lots to see and do. You can eat wonderful food, walk to amazing places nearby, see seals, see Alcatraz, see the Golden Gate Bridge, and really enjoy yourself. It is where Chad and I got engaged in 2009. The city itself has a rich history, and you can experience it through the many historical places throughout. I strongly recommend looking into visiting. I know I could never do it justice, so just take my word for it. I have not even scratched the surface of San Francisco, but if I get my wish, I will be living in California for many, many more years, and I will have plenty of opportunities to experience all it has to offer. I will say that I have heard wonderful things about San Francisco during Christmastime, but I have yet to go there during the holiday season. My hope, is to spend my next birthday there. Fingers crossed!

(Chad and I, 2-14-2009, San Francisco, right after getting engaged)

2. Half Moon Bay. In August of 2009, Chad brought me to the beach for the first time. He chose Half Moon Bay, as my first beach experience. The drive there was amazing, and the town itself was so picturesque. There are several beaches there, and you can just go to whichever one you want, or if you are motivated, you could go to multiple ones. It is known as a great place to surf. I was so excited to be there. The beach is a happy place for me, and it had been a while since I had been to a beach. He surprised me with the trip. It was a mystery destination, and it is still one of my favorite adventures of ours. Once we hiked the distance down to the beach, I made my way to the water, took off my shoes, and ran full-speed into the ocean. I remember thinking YESSSSSS inside, and that quickly turned to NOOOOOOOOO. The water here is so COLD. It was freezing! I had to make a quick retreat. I was in shock. I am accustomed to the warm waters off the East Coast states, and I was no prepared for the cold water of the Pacific Ocean. It was definitely a crash course in California beaches. It is not weird to wear a sweatshirt on the beach here, even in the hottest part of Summer. The water is cold, and the breeze is very cool. So, it actually makes for a nice beach trip, if you can handle the cold water. You can enjoy the sun and sand, without dying of heatstroke. We are actually planning an end of Summer trip back to Half Moon Bay, for later this month. I am quite excited.

3. Santa Cruz. If you want to enjoy the beach, and have fun, then Santa Cruz is a wonderful place to go. Their is a mini amusement park on the beach. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants. There is a train you can ride. It is just a very fun beach. It is beautiful. I genuinely loved it, as did Gigi. It was her first beach experience, and she is definitely like her Mom. She has not stopped asking to go back to the beach, since our Santa Cruz trip last Summer. I am very excited about our upcoming beach trip. There is so much to do in Santa Cruz. I definitely recommend going there, if you get the chance.

4. Moaning Caverns. Not to far from us, in Vallecito, CA, is an amazing place, that I think everyone should visit. It is a National Natural Landmark. You can walk down into the cavern, or repel down into it. You can go ziplining, or walk on the trails, or do the climbing walls. It is just so much fun! I honestly struggled with it some, because I am a bit claustrophobic, but overall, it was an amazing experience. We are actually going back soon with Gigi and some friends of ours. I am beyond excited!! It is a beautiful, once in a lifetime experience. It is not often you can go so deep underground. You can read more of the actual details here!

5. Stephanie's House. Have you ever checked out the Buy/sell/trade pages on Facebook?! When I was pregnant with Gigi, I bought quite a bit of the things we needed for her on the BST pages for our local area. I did not have a baby shower, so the list of things we needed to buy was very long. I needed everything. Well, through buying some clothes and a shopping cart cover, I met an amazing person named Stephanie. I will forever count that as one of my best purchases ever, because not only did I get some great things I needed for Gigi, but I gained a best friend. Stephanie, her daughter (who is 8 months older than Gigi, and one of her BEST friends), her other half, and her parents quickly became like family to me. I cannot even explain it. Sometimes you just know people are meant to be in your life, the moment you meet them, and that is how I feel about Stephanie and her family. My pregnancy was not easy, and it was Stephanie and her family who helped me make it through. Plus, they helped me survive Gigi's first year of life, which was one of the hardest years of my life. There were very, very few people I would even consider leaving Gigi with, and Stephanie and her family are on that list. More than once, they cared for Gigi when she was a baby, when I had to be in the hospital. Her mom was like a mom to me, and Gigi definitely loved her Mimi Julie. Yes, Stephanie's mom and I share the same name, and it is an honor on my part. We recently lost Julie to Heaven, and not a day goes by that I do not think of her. Stephanie's house is a favorite place of mine. I do not know many people here in California, and I am not often comfortable around people, but I have always felt "at home" at Stephanie's house, even the very first time I visited.

6. The Middle of nowhere, back roads, windows down, music up, farmland or coast. One of the most pleasant surprises California held for me, once I moved here, was how country it is where I live. I always imagined California as beaches and cities, tons of people, and gridlocked traffic. Yes, those things exist here, but a lot of California is actually covered in farms, orchards, and vineyards. An insane amount of this country's produce come from right here. I had no clue, until I moved here. One of my favorite things to do, is drive around on back roads, wind in my hair, music loud. Just relaxing and exploring new places. Whether it is through orchards and farms, or on the coast.... I love it. I am so grateful I get to enjoy the beaches and palm trees of California, and still get to enjoy the farm country that is in my soul, from growing up in North Carolina.

(Random pics of California, I've taken while we are driving around.)

7. Old Sac. There is a town up by Sacramento, called Old Sacramento. It is so fun to walk around. There are stores, cafes, restaurants, and many fun things to do. I love exploring the boutiques and shops. There is an awesome candy store, lots of toy and souvenir shops, and plenty of yummy places to eat. You can get old time pictures taken, and watch street performers. We tend to go once a year. I love to walk around with coffee, while just enjoy all the places. Every year, Chad's work hosts a truck rodeo, and Chad competes in the Forklift competition. Once it is over, we head over to Old Sac, and spend the rest of the day. It is always a fun time. We will be doing it next month. I am excited. Gigi is older now, and I think she will enjoy it even more than usual. Though, I may attempt to skip the candy store this year. Something tells me it may be hard to get her to leave... Suddenly, when thinking of her inside the store, the term "a kid in a candy store" makes so much sense to me. The last two years, we have been fortunate enough to see their Christmas decorations... Christmas at the end of October, yes a bit early, but nonetheless, it has been awesome to see. The toy store there, usually has at least one tree that is all Hello Kitty. I love love love it.

8. Folsom. I love love love Folsom. They have an amazing outlet mall there, plus it is just a really pretty place. There is a coffee shop there, that I really enjoyed. Plus, I was able to see the prison I have been singing about my entire life. Yes, I am a HUGE Johnny Cash fan.

9. Jelly Belly Factory. Just a couple hours from us, is a Jelly Belly factory. They give free tours, free samples, and you can stock up on your favorite flavors for cheap. Plus, they sell bags of "Belly Flops", which are imperfect jelly beans, and they are delicious and super cheap. It was a very fun experience. I cannot wait to bring Gigi. I want to wait until she is a bit older though. I think she will love it... again... kid in a candy store... It was awesome learning about the process of making jelly beans. It is way more involved than I ever imagined. We went not longer after my hospitalization in 2012. You probably didn't know, but I was temporarily unable to walk at all. It was one of the worst times of my life. I overcame it, but for quite a while I was weak and had to be in a wheelchair. Despite being in a wheelchair, it was a fun experience, and they were very helpful. It was a great experience. Plus... Jelly beans! MMMmm! Our favorites are cinnamon, buttered popcorn, and root beer! :)

10. Home. Yes, home. Home is where the heart is eh? I love being at home. Sometimes, I get a bit stir crazy, because with us being a one car family, I am often stuck home Monday through Friday, but it is definitely still a happy place for me. I love being in my own space, surrounded by my loved ones. No matter how much cabin fever I have, I am always happy to be home. I know this may be a lame answer, but it is very true. I know I have encouraged you to visit the previous nine places, if the opportunity presents itself... I am not so sure you should visit this place though. I mean... Do I even like you?! LOL I kid, I kid. My house is very boring, but hey, I would happy visit one through nine, if you even found yourselves this way!!

Growing up, I never thought I would live in California. I was not even really sure I would ever visit. I definitely considered myself an East Coast girl, and my heart was in New York, not California. Yet, the journey of life led me here, and I am so grateful. I really, truly love it here. I am glad things do not always go as we anticipate them to. Yes, I get very homesick for the East Coast, and I hope I get to visit many times in the future, but I honestly think I could happily remain in California forever.

Now, I want to a much shorter list for you all, not as in depth, but I wanted to share... Without further ado, in random order...

Top Ten Favorite Places I Have Visited in My Lifetime... (I have only traveled to most of the Continental United States and Canada)

1. New York City. A piece of my heart will forever be owned by NYC.
2. Boone, North Carolina. Stunningly beautiful, mountain town.
3. Warner, New Hampshire. Gorgeous mountain town. Some of my happiest days were spent here.
4. Kentucky. Now, I don't know that I would ever want to live there, but once while traveling through, I saw at least twenty scenes, that were literally perfect. I was young, and I remember thinking that those moments/scenes should be captured in pictures, postcards, and paintings. The natural beauty of the landscape was breathtaking. All these years later, I still remember the images. It was just so perfect.
5. Yellowstone, Wyoming. It is so pretty there. Actual, much of Wyoming is gorgeous. It is just not a place I would ever want to live again.
6. Niagara Falls. Both the American and Canadian sides are beautiful, but admittedly, at night the Canadian side is way more spectacular.
7. Wilmington, North Carolina, coastline.
8. Boston, Massachusetts. A piece of my heart will forever be owned by Boston.
9. San Francisco, California.
10. Las Vegas, Nevada. So fun, and such great memories.

So, there you have my lists!! What about you... Do you have ten favorite places in your hometown? Do you have ten places you would miss, if you moved from the place you currently live?! This was definitely a hard list for me, and I obviously had to bend the rules a bit. I did enjoy making these lists, and sharing my places with you though!! Have you ever been to any of the places I chose?! Let me know!!
