Till Forever by Elena Matthews #BookReview

So, I was given this great opportunity to read an amazing book, and tell you all about it! Plus, included in this post, is not only my review, but so many awesome extras, so please stay with me here. I need to ramble for a few minutes.

I never give away too much information in my reviews. I try to tell you if the book is good or not, if the characters are well developed, how steamy it is, and maybe some other important details. As for the plot, I do my best to never spoil anything. Now, I am not trying to give spoilers of this book, but I do want to point out a few things.

When I enter into books, I try to know as little as possible going it. It makes it a better read for me. Everything is a surprise. So, I knew very little going into this book, and I am grateful for that, though for once a bit of a warning may have been nice. However, even knowing what I know now, I would still have read this book.

If you have read my blogs, or know me at all, chances are you know that in 2003, I gave birth to a daughter way too early, and her tiny little body just was not strong enough. She is my guardian angel in Heaven, and I miss her every day. I will always miss her. If you have experienced the same or similar, or if you just struggle with this sort of event, you may want to think before you read this book. The very beginning, we experience Tyler and Mia's loss of their daughter Erika with them, and that theme is woven into the fabric of the entire book.

There were a few moments in the beginning, when I almost walked away, but I didn't and I am glad that I didn't. Another thing I should mention... Again, as you probably know if you know me... My mum is battling Metastatic Breast Cancer. She is a warrior. There is mention of cancer in this book, and if that is a hard subject for you, then you may want to give a few moments thought if you can handle it.

With these warnings given, I encourage you to read on.

This book was fabulous. It is honestly a five star book. I do not like to give star ratings within my review, because I feel everyone has different standards, and my five star may not be your five star, and vice versa. However, I feel like I just need to say that I loved this book that much.

You know by now, how important character development and plot are, for me in books, and this book scores an A plus on both. It is just that great. It is good enough, that I happily read about subjects that are not necessarily comfortable for me, and I do not regret doing so.

You will absolutely fall in love with these characters. The main ones and the supporting ones. You will be thoroughly entertained by the plot. You will feel emotions, good and bad. You will not want to put it down, until you are done reading it, and then you will wish it were not over. Though, the ending will satisfy you. It is a complete book.

I highly recommend this book. It takes us on a journey with husband and wife Tyler and Mia, and we see just what their marriage can withstand, and just how much they will fight for each other, or against each other. This book has plenty of steamy parts. If you love for a book to be steamy, this one will certainly satisfy your need for steamy romance. However, if you aren't so into that, this is still the book for you. Just simply skim over those parts. This book has such depth and weight, beyond the steamy love scenes.

Do yourself a favor, and get this book. I genuinely think you will thank me later.

Now, if you continue reading, Bare Naked Words and Elena Matthews, have loads of awesomeness for you. You will find a book synopsis, an excerpt from the book, information on the author, information on where to get a copy for yourself, a music play list to accompany the book, and a link for a giveaway! Like I said, so much awesomeness!!

Thank you for joining me for another book review!! Happy reading!!

I turn and head over to Alex on the dance floor to say good-bye. When she finds my eyes wandering the space around me, she tells me that Mia went inside to grab a drink. However, when I go in search of her, I come up empty. Reluctantly, I order an Uber before heading to the bathroom since the four beers I consumed are making me feel as if I could piss a river.
Thankfully, there isn’t a line when I get to the bathroom, so I open the door. As I swing the door open, I startle when I realize a chick is in here, doing her business.
“Shit, I’m so sorry,” is my automatic response.
After taking a quick second glance, I see that it’s Mia.
So, this is where she disappeared to.
Her face is one of alarm as she scrambles to cover herself, but I don’t miss the redness around her eyes and the tear streaks along her rosy cheeks. Ignoring the scowl I see aimed my way, I step inside and close the door behind me, locking it.
“Jesus, Tyler,” she grumbles with annoyance as she quickly wipes herself before standing, pulling her panties up and allowing the dress to fall back into place, smoothing it down with her hands. “You ever heard of knocking?”
You ever heard of locking the door? I don’t say this. I simply ignore her quip and focus on her raw red eyes that make my heart clench.
“Have you been crying?” I ask attentively, taking a step toward her.
She sighs irritably as she flushes the toilet and closes the seat before walking over to the sink where she begins the process of washing her hands. “No, I’m fine,” she says with a tone that sounds anything but fine.
“Mia?” I step over to her until I’m standing behind her, staring at her reflection in the mirror where she purposely tries to avoid my eyes.
She sniffs, sucking her bottom lip into her mouth, a sign that tells me she’s upset but trying to hold the emotion back.
“I know when my wife’s been crying,” I state confidently, taking in her sad eyes. When seconds pass and only silence greets my ears, I gently whisper, “Baby, what is it?”
She visibly flinches at my words, and as she turns the faucet off, she looks up to the ceiling, breathing heavily. Her eyes flutter closed, her wet hands fiercely gripping hold of the sink.
“You.” There’s a hard edge to her voice, one that chips away at my heart.
“Me?”
“Yes, you,” she grits out, fuming.
Instead of stepping away from her obvious ire, I instinctively step closer.
She gives out a shuddery breath before laying into me good, glaring at me through the mirror. “I’ve waited two months for you to put your money where your mouth is, and as the days passed without a single word from you, I started to think that maybe your drunken vow to fight for me was just bullshit. When that realization sank in, I tried anything not to think of you and just focus on me. And you want to know something? It was working. I was pushing through the depression, finally feeling like me again, finally feeling like, maybe, I could get through the next days without having the constant reminder of what I’d lost. That was when I realized I didn’t need you. That my life didn’t revolve around you, that I could survive without you. I felt like I was slowly moving on with my life.
“Then, tonight, you unexpectedly turned up, and everything I’d felt went straight out of the goddamn window the instant I set eyes on your stupid, beautiful, perfect face.
“Two months, Tyler. Where the fuck have you been?”
She’s breathing heavily, and her eyes are filled with angry tears, but she doesn’t give me a chance to explain. “I want to hate you, slap you, hit you, anything that involves hurting you, but instead, all I want to do is…” She pauses, dragging her teeth over her bottom lip, her eyes filled with obvious turmoil before she lets them fall shut.
I move stealthily closer until my chest is pressed up against her back, both hands on her hips, unable to resist touching her in some way. Just feeling her between my fingertips is everything. She remains silent, her facial expression tormented.
“What do you want to do?” I breathe in her ear.
I don’t miss the way she shivers against me. Her eyes flutter back open, and her stare meets mine in the reflection of the mirror. As well as seeing anger, I see passion. Pure, hot, unadulterated passion.
“I want to slam my lips onto yours. I want to lose myself in your touch. I want you so much.” The words come out on a husky whisper.
My fingers grasp her hips, my cock turning rock fucking hard within an instant.
“You can do both—hate me and kiss me,” I urge, pushing my hips into her ass. “Take your anger out on me, on my lips, on my cock…”
A moan escapes her lips, and my fingers drift lower until they meet her bare thigh just below her dress.
“You can be as rough as you want.” I forcibly dig my fingers against her thigh, showing exactly how rough with my touch alone. “I want your wrath, baby. Give it to me.”

Misadventures on the Night Shift #BookReview

It is Saturday, and time for my latest review of the newest release in the Misadventures Series. This one was written by Lauren Rowe. It is hot, hot, hot, and lives up to the great read precedent set by the previous books in this series. I highly recommend you read it. At this point, I genuinely feel it is safe to say that we should just read every book released in this series.

This one was extremely steamy. It was well written. The plot was wonderful, the characters were fabulous, there were tons of steamy parts, and the ending was wonderful. It really hit all the marks of a great book. Admittedly, if you don't like steamy scenes, this one may be a bit hard for you to read. However, if you just skim those parts, the story is still wonderful and worth reading.

Abby and Lucas' story is a bit unconventional, but I have no doubt you will be pulling for them to make a permanent connection. They are truly lovable characters. Lucas seems a bit bad, but once you dig deep, he is a wonderful guy. As for Abby, she is just wonderful. Her views of herself are a bit skewed by the opinions of others, but by the end, she loves herself the way she should. I found myself relating to her quite a bit.

So, once again, as with the rest of the Misadventures Series books, I am giving it two thumbs up. Continue reading to find out about this book, the author, where to get a copy of your own, and to find a link to a giveaway!!

As always, if you read this book, feel free to reach out to me, to discuss it!! Thank you for reading!!

Snapshots of the Past #UseYourWords

Welcome to November's Use Your Words blogging challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked four to six words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That is the challenge, here is a fun twist; no one who is participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

At the end of this post you will find links to the other blogs featuring this challenge. Check them all out, see what words they got and how they used them.

My words are: comedian ~ dribble ~ excretion ~ fugitive ~ snapshot

They were submitted by:  http://theblogging911.com/blog (Thank you for such varied and awesome words!!)

When I read these words, the reality was, that I was drawn back to high school. I wonder where they brought your mind. I must admit, I may have been in a high school state of mind, when I read them, and that could be why my mind went there. So, I immediately thought... Well, I have nothing to say about high school, so I will just keep pondering these words. So, I pondered and pondered and pondered.... I just stayed in high school. I guess I should tell you guys, thankfully, the one word that did not fit with my high school thoughts, was fugitive. I mean, I wasn't a perfect kid, but fugitive definitely did not fit me. So, I guess I did something right eh?

Right before reading my words, I had been thinking about pictures. More accurately, a lack of pictures. I really do not have pictures from my childhood. I wish I did. I would love to show Gigi where I came from, my family, me growing up, and my memories. I would even just love to have a snapshot or two of me at different ages. Just something for her to see me as I grew up. I really want her to be able to see the family members I tell her about. Maybe help her see my life, through my eyes.

Over the years, I lost pictures and mementos I had saved, but had always managed to hang on to the more important ones. Then I lost everything, including my life's mementos, in a fire. I managed to find a few, while at my dad's in 2009, but not many. Sadly, many of those were accidentally destroyed by Chad during a move. So, I am back to having very little to show from my childhood.

I know my sister Luci has some pictures from my prom. Well, she had them. I am not sure if she still has them all these years later, but it is possible. Unfortunately, I never think to ask her, when we talk. I am usually focused on updating her on Gigi, or catching up with the current events of her life. So, I really should ask her, but I will probably just keep forgetting to.

That is the other reason I wish I had snapshots from my past... My memory is getting worse with each passing day. When I think back on specific points in my life, I am finding more and more blocks of forgotten memories. Memories that are just gone or are so fuzzy, that I don't remember the details. I guess, I have the cysts in my brain to thank for that. Before they came along, I had a very good memory, and not having snapshots, was not that big of a deal.

The word that really pulled me back to high school was dribble. Maybe because of all the years I spent on the basketball team, but not really. It was actually because of dribbling a basketball. I have so many memories over the years of working on memorizing things for school, while dribbling a basketball. I am not sure if focusing on my dribble, while focusing on whatever I was studying, really helped, but it definitely did not hurt. I will let you in on a secret. I do not know my multiplication table. I did not memorize it. Of course, I never worked on trying to memorize it, while dribbling a basketball. Coincidence?! I'm not sure, but I am tempted to work on memorizing it, while I dribble a basketball, and see if the information finally takes. It can't hurt eh?

In high school, I spent my Sophomore year as a bit of a comedian. Seriously, the funniest I have ever been in my life, was that year. Well, at least the beginning of it. The Summer before Sophomore year, I went to Summer Camp in New Hampshire, and I really did some growing up. A few things happened that Summer before camp, that I think really set up the foundation, for me to do some growing up at camp. It's funny how my memories are fading, but the memories I most want to fade, are still pretty strong and vivid.

I had an amazing time at Camp. We sang, we played sports, we explored the world around us, we hiked up mountains, we went to Mass daily, we grew, we forged friendships, and some of us (myself) became comedians. I am not even sure why or how that happened. I am not even sure I had ever really been funny prior. I would like to think I still have a tiny bit of that comedian I found that Summer, inside of me. I do think I can occasionally be funny, and that is a good thing.

Unfortunately, Sophomore year was also the year I came the closest ever, to being a fugitive. So, I think my inner comedian did not last long. I ended up getting expelled from school, spending a month being home schooled, and then going to the local public school for the remainder of the year. I finished that year with good grades. Of course, I did have a C in French, so they weren't perfect grades. It was decided that I would attend a private school the following year, a different one than I was expelled from, and that because my Sophomore year was so rocky, I would repeat it. Now, I don't regret that choice, but if I did it over again, I would choose to continue on a Junior, and never repeat a year that I had passed with A's and B's with one C.

By the time I was a Senior, I had more than enough credits to graduate, and I was miserable still being in high school. I was more than ready to be done with high school, and to be out in the world living my life. That was the downfall to repeating a year needlessly. I guess the good part, was that after repeating my Sophomore year, rather than staying at that new school, I was sent back to the school I was expelled from. It was agreed that the entire situation was mishandled. I was treated like a full blown fugitive, when I was really just a kid who had an accident, and handled that situation poorly. I am glad I went back to that school. I think it is important that I finished high school where I started, with that group of people. It was my home. It is where I belonged.

As you have probably figured out, I had one word left, that I have not used. I am going to use it now. I am going to change names, to protect the innocent, and I am going to tell you about something that happened before high school. It was actually when I first started using the dribble while I study technique.

My friend John* and I would study together, usually spelling words or science, and we would usually study at the basketball court. We lived together in a group home, and we spent a lot of our time playing basketball. In between games, or while waiting for the rest of our teams to come to the court, we would study. We were studying science, and we were learning about the word excretion. We somehow decided that saying we were excreting, was way more cool than saying we were sweating. So for a few days, we would tease each other about how much we were excreting.

I don't know. I was young. He was young. We were not the sharpest tools in the sheds. Who knows? So, a few days later, John and I were in the computer room working on something for school. As usual, we were talking way too much, and probably not focusing enough on our work. We had just finished a basketball game, and were trying to get a bit of work done, before we had to eat dinner. Our other friend Jamel* was in the room, and working on schoolwork. John started teasing me about how much sweat I had all over me, but of course he was not calling it sweat. Jamel asked what were we talking about.

So, John and I explained to him about how we did not say sweating anymore, because we wanted to sound more intelligent. Jamel took it upon himself to give us a full explanation of excretion. All the meanings, including non-textbook explanations. Suffice it to say, John and I never used that in place of sweating again. We also felt a bit awkward for a few days. Jamel of course teased us for a while, but he was at least somewhat kind about it. All in all, it was an eye opening experience. I guess the best part, is that I can laugh about it now.

So, there you have it. Now, tell me, do these words remind you of anything in particular? What do they bring to mind for you?!

Joys of Fall #PoetryCollaboration

I hope you are sitting. This post is a poetry collaboration. Remember that? How my fellow bloggers and I, pick a theme, then write poems based on that theme, and share them on the same day?! Yes! That! Well, this is one of those!! I have not done one in a while, but here we are.... I am doing one. I apologize in advance for my horrible poetry.

This month, we chose we the appropriate theme of Joys of Fall.

Poem: Joys of Fall

Jogging through the fall leaves.
Overjoyed at the cooler temperatures.
Yellow, orange, red, and brown painting the landscape.
Sounds of laughter, as we play in the piles of leaves.

Owls and scarecrows covering our windows.
Family gatherings around the bonfires.

Finally getting to enjoy the beautiful smell that is the Fall air.
All your family and friends gathering to give thanks.
Licking sticky traces of s'mores from your fingers.
Laying under blankets, as we sip cocoa and watch movies.

So, there you go. What about you?! What are some of the joys of Fall for you?!

Do not forget to check out the awesome poems written by my friends, about the Joys of Fall!! Find them here:

Deck the Halls #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to November's Secret Subject Swap. This week eleven brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:
How early do you get ready for Christmas?  Baking?  Shopping?  Travel Plans?  Or are you a last minute person?

It was submitted by: https://batteredhope.blogspot.com  (Thank you for this awesome subject!!)

You guys!!! It is November 3rd, and this was the perfect subject for me. I am so not ready for Christmas. I basically have no gifts yet. This is very BAD. Bad for me, bad for my budget, bad for the people I am giving gifts to. That being said... I am so ready for Christmas. Yes, I know, I know.... Thanksgiving has not even happened yet. I cannot help it. I am ready. Honestly, I would totally decorate the tree right NOW, if it were not still in the attic.

I am one of those people, who waits until the day after Thanksgiving to decorate. It is just what I do. I don't take things down until the end of the first week of January, so I feel like we get a adequate amount of time with the decorations. Last year, I was feeling so bummed out, that I decorated early, to cheer myself up. I seriously think I will be doing some decorating early this year as well. I am planning on starting slowly. I plan on taking down our Fall Window decorations early. I think I will do that around the beginning of the third week of November. So, our windows will be festive early. Along with the windows, I will also put up our door decor and our Christmas flowers (outside). I will hold off for nick knacks and our tree.

I also want to do so much more holiday baking this year. Gigi is really into it, and that really makes me into it more than ever. I definitely want to bake cookies a few times. I am also thinking we need to try our hand at a holiday cake and some pies. I just bought the stuff to make some Rice Krispies Treats, and I plan on making them festive. Well, some of them. I will leave a few plain for myself. I am a purist with my RKTs.

We are ones to travel in general, and especially not at holidays. That is mostly because it isn't in the budget. The fact that I am forbidden to travel from my doctor, does not help matters. To be honest, if I could, I would absolutely be some who travels at holidays. I miss my family, and it only gets worse during the holidays.

Normally, I would be nearly done with all my shopping by now. The last few years, I have totally slacked off and failed in the gift buying arena. Well, this is the last year of that. Starting this January, I will be back on track. I will start preparing for next Christmas starting in January. I actually did some shopping for Christmas already, but then I undid the progress, by giving Gigi the gifts I bought. I panicked. I planned to give her Legos for Christmas, and then got worried she would hate them. So, I tested the water and gave her the ones I had bought. The good news, she loves them and so does Chad. The bad news, I now have no gifts bought already. The other good news, it makes knowing what to buy for her easy.

As I have mentioned before, I don't really have many traditions, but I am determined to make traditions for Gigi to enjoy. We are slowly creating them. We love to go to Bass Pro Shop, and get pictures with Santa. We love attending our town's parade. We love decorating a gingerbread house. We love decorating cookies at our in law's house. I am hoping to add at least two more traditions this year. I want one of them to be baking related. I also want to create a Christmas Eve tradition. I am still plotting it. Thankfully, I have a few weeks to come up with a plan. I am open to suggestions.

So, tell me.... Christmas. Do you celebrate? Do you have traditions? What is your approach to decorating? Don't celebrate it... What do you do this time of year? Give me the details.

I hope you all survive the time change this weekend unscathed. Hopefully, we all have an amazing weekend. Don't forget to check out the links to all the other Secret Subject Swap posts!! I will meet you there, as soon as I refill my coffee cup!!

Misadventures of the First Daughter #BookReview

As I am sure you know, this is my latest book review. Yes, it is for the latest release in the Misadventures Series. Okay, listen, before I get into what I thought of this latest release, let's take a moment to focus on the series as a whole. I highly recommend this series. I will be honest, I was excited when I first heard about this series. Many of the authors included, are authors that I admire. I was also slightly skeptical. I mean an entire series written by various authors, that could be super cool. We should definitely expect variety, and variety is the spice of life. I was also a bit skeptical due to the fact that several of the releases featured two authors. I have often read novels with multiple authors, and they did not work. The back and for between authors and writing styles, was far from flawless, and the books suffered. That is not true with this series. These books are fantastic, and very well written. The flow of them, even the ones with multiple authors, is flawless. So, definitely read this series.

Now, onto what I felt of the misadventures experienced by the President's daughter. It did not disappoint. Not at all. It had an excellent, entertaining plot, and the characters are wonderful. It was definitely a page turner, and I did not get bored. I really enjoyed it, and it really piqued my imagination. I could literally put myself into these characters places, and imagine what they were thinking and feeling. Definitely a well written book.

This book definitely gets steamy, but not so steamy it detracts from the plot. I should warn you, if you hate BDSM, then you may not like this book. If you enjoy BDSM books, then this book will definitely have something in store for you. Now, if you aren't into BDSM, do not write this book off. The BDSM is written in a way, which is adds to the story, and increases the steamy factor, but it isn't forced down your throat in a way, that if BDSM isn't your thing, you absolutely will not like this. It is more of a bonus, and not the main event.

This book is full of romance, suspense, sexiness, humor, and action. It is definitely worth checking out. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made me want to run out and find myself a bodyguard to date. I kid, I kid. Sort of. I mean, if ever I met a Zane, I would absolutely develop an instant crush. Admittedly, despite loving the movie The Bodyguard, that idea of crushing on a bodyguard never occurred to me. After reading this book, I am seriously thinking everyone should have a crush on their bodyguard, and that I need a bodyguard. This has definitely inspired my inner daydreamer.

Keep reading for a synopsis of this book, information about the talented authors, links on how to get your own copy, and a link to a giveaway!! Enjoy!!

MEET THE AUTHORS

Meredith Wild is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of romance. Living on Florida’s Gulf Coast with her husband and three children, she refers to herself as a techie, whiskey-appreciator, and hopeless romantic. She has been featured on CBS This Morning, The Today Show, the New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Publishers Weekly, and The Examiner. When she isn’t living in the fantasy world of her characters, she can usually be found at:

Mia Michelle fell in love with the world of books the very first time she stepped inside of her small hometown library. Growing up, she loved to spend time losing herself in the world of make believe by creating her own imaginative stories. The gift of a leather journal for her eighth birthday inspired her dream of one day becoming a writer. Though she kept most of her writing private over the years, a childhood best friend read the first draft of Rose of Thorne and encouraged her to take the leap of faith to bring her dream to life.
Mia fully admits to having a hopeless infatuation with her Kindle, and suffers from a one-click book addiction. (No intervention required). When she isn’t shuttling her two kids between cheerleading and football practice, or folding a massive pile of laundry, she can be found curled up in her favorite cozy chair with a pen in one hand and an adult beverage in the other.
Mia currently resides in a quaint little southern town in Tennessee with her husband, two children, and fur baby.
