Greatest Love #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to May's Secret Subject Swap. This week twelve awesome bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today, we are all simultaneously divulging our topics, and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:
Tell us about a song that, every time you hear it, takes you back in time.

It was submitted by: http://Bakinginatornado.com

Well, this subject was not as easy as it may seem. I have a hard time with music questions. Music is such a massive part of my life, and so important to me, that it is hard for me to narrow things down. With this subject, I did have one song pop into my head, but I did not want to go there. Mostly because the back story is not something I really want to discuss at this moment. It really is not bad, but it is personal.

So, I was seeking input from Chad and Andrea from AndieRunsOffCrazy, and they were no help at all. None whatsoever. So, I was about to search songs of the 90's, and my answer came to me. Yay!

My answer: "Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston. It is actually the first song I ever remember hearing. My mom was a huge fan, and listened to it constantly. I loved it. I remember walking down the hallway of our apartment building, and hearing it, and knowing I was home. I was probably only two or three years old, but  it is a very strong memory. I think it was this very song that actually made me fall in love with music. I loved Whitney's voice. I still love her voice. It remains a favorite song for me to this day.

Every time I hear it, I transport back to childhood. I feel that same happiness I did then, and I remember how it felt like home to me. Yes, a song felt like home. It gave me comfort and reminded me of my mom. I listened to the song a lot over the years, since after the age of four, I lived with my dad, and rarely saw my mom. It was my link to her. It helped me remember her and feel close to her.

So, what about you?! What song takes you back?! What does it take you back to?!

I hope you are all having a fantastic week!! I am!! Andrea is here visiting from Michigan. We have had a fun week. I plan on posting some pics on my Facebook page. Today, we are having a beach day!! 2. I can never come up with a specific song name when asked, but there are definitely songs that take me places when I hear them come on the radio!

  5. I'm a music junkie so 1 song is not possible. LOL I have many favorites and memories as well that are associated with certain songs, some very personal, some tragic, others happy.

  6. You know I have many songs and keep doing top ten Thursdays about them.
I have a strong memory of when I discovered Whitney Houston: It was in fall 1985, we were on vacation in the Italian part of Switzerland, there was a thunderstorm, and radio reception was bad, but I liked what I heard, it was "all at once", but just when the radio guy said who the artist was, a giant thunder made it impossible for me to understand. I THOUGH he might have said something like "Houston".
The next day I went to a record store and asked the sales people about a wonderful voice, a lady, possibly called Houston. The shrugged their shoulders. In my rookie English I sang it to them: "all at once, I'm drifting on a lonely sea, wishing you'd come back to me" The shook their heads. No idea.
I kept looking for weeks, and I think right as Christmas was coming up, her album "Whitney Houston" hit the stores, and I just KNEW it was her! Yay, I found her!
Can you believe she's been gone for five years? So sad.

Duke #FunnyFriday

Welcome to this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write five captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture.

Here’s today’s picture. It was submitted by Minette of Southern Belle Charm.

1. Duke: Just five more minutes!
2. Duke: You want me to walk further?! That will cost you a Milk bone.
3. Duke: Mommmm, whyyyyyyy?! Can we just stop walking now?! Do we really need to walk more?! I mean, we have to be a solid ten feet from the porch. That is enough walking right?!
4. Duke: If you insist on bringing me to the vet, you will have to carry me. I will not aid in this. The last time you took me there, well, we just won't discuss that.
5. Duke: Must take a quick nap. That Thanksgiving feast wore me out. So. Much. Chewing.

Mother Earth #UseYourWords

Welcome to July's Use Your Words post! This is how it works: participating bloggers picked four to six words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That is the challenge, here is a fun twist; no one who is participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

My words are: bat ~ environment ~ foreshadow ~ lonesome ~ oddly They were submitted by: http://theblogging911.com/blog
I am typing this on my new Chromebook. I got it dirt cheap on Amazon Prime Day. I am not trying to brag, but I am a fast typist, and make very few typos. However, In just these last few lines, I have made about a million typos. Change may be nice, but sometimes it takes a bit to get used to. Oy. So, please bear with me. Oddly, despite not liking change and fighting it as much as possible, I am actually excited about this change. Ho…

I kinda hate you though. I had two solid plans for this month's words (I NEVER have plans, and this month I had TWO plans), and neither could be applied to these words, so I had to strugggggllllleeeeee..... It's okay, after reconsidering our friendship, I decided I still love you!)
