Greatest Love #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to May's Secret Subject Swap. This week twelve awesome bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today, we are all simultaneously divulging our topics, and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:
Tell us about a song that, every time you hear it, takes you back in time.

Well, this subject was not as easy as it may seem. I have a hard time with music questions. Music is such a massive part of my life, and so important to me, that it is hard for me to narrow things down. With this subject, I did have one song pop into my head, but I did not want to go there. Mostly because the back story is not something I really want to discuss at this moment. It really is not bad, but it is personal.

So, I was seeking input from Chad and Andrea from AndieRunsOffCrazy, and they were no help at all. None whatsoever. So, I was about to search songs of the 90's, and my answer came to me. Yay!

My answer: "Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston. It is actually the first song I ever remember hearing. My mom was a huge fan, and listened to it constantly. I loved it. I remember walking down the hallway of our apartment building, and hearing it, and knowing I was home. I was probably only two or three years old, but  it is a very strong memory. I think it was this very song that actually made me fall in love with music. I loved Whitney's voice. I still love her voice. It remains a favorite song for me to this day.

Every time I hear it, I transport back to childhood. I feel that same happiness I did then, and I remember how it felt like home to me. Yes, a song felt like home. It gave me comfort and reminded me of my mom. I listened to the song a lot over the years, since after the age of four, I lived with my dad, and rarely saw my mom. It was my link to her. It helped me remember her and feel close to her.

So, what about you?! What song takes you back?! What does it take you back to?!

I hope you are all having a fantastic week!! I am!! Andrea is here visiting from Michigan. We have had a fun week. I plan on posting some pics on my Facebook page. Today, we are having a beach day!! I am definitely excited!! Also, Andrea is an AMAZING cook. Nom nom nom. I hope you all have a beautiful Friday and a fabulous weekend!!

Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts.  Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. See you there:

  1. Such a wonderful memory and it's great that you can hear that song and feel that love again.

  2. I can never come up with a specific song name when asked, but there are definitely songs that take me places when I hear them come on the radio!

  3. I couldn't pick just one song either. You did a great job and enjoy your week!

  4. I'm a music junkie so 1 song is not possible. LOL I have many favorites and memories as well that are associated with certain songs, some very personal, some tragic, others happy.

  5. You know I have many songs and keep doing top ten Thursdays about them.
I have a strong memory of when I discovered Whitney Houston: It was in fall 1985, we were on vacation in the Italian part of Switzerland, there was a thunderstorm, and radio reception was bad, but I liked what I heard, it was "all at once", but just when the radio guy said who the artist was, a giant thunder made it impossible for me to understand. I THOUGH he might have said something like "Houston".
The next day I went to a record store and asked the sales people about a wonderful voice, a lady, possibly called Houston. The shrugged their shoulders. In my rookie English I sang it to them: "all at once, I'm drifting on a lonely sea, wishing you'd come back to me" The shook their heads. No idea.
I kept looking for weeks, and I think right as Christmas was coming up, her album "Whitney Houston" hit the stores, and I just KNEW it was her! Yay, I found her!
Can you believe she's been gone for five years? So sad.

Touched for the Very First Time March 2017 #UseYourWords

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked four to six words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That is the challenge, here is a fun twist; no one who is participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

My words are: Tetris ~ Rollerblades ~ Big Hair ~ Rubik’s Cube~ Like A Virgin ~ Neon They were submitted by: Tamara of Confessions of a part-time working mom(Thank you for the awesome words, Tamara. I kinda hate you though. I had two solid plans for this month's words (I NEVER have plans, and this month I had TWO plans), and neither could be applied to these words, so I had to strugggggllllleeeeee..... It's okay, after reconsidering our friendship, I decided I still love you!)
So, I read this month's words, and I immediately transported back t…

The Game of Life Jan 2017 #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to a the first Secret Subject Swap of 2017. This week twelve brave bloggers submitted a secret subject for someone else to use, and were assigned a secret subject prompt of their own. Each blogger gets to use their Secret Subject prompt, to write any blog of their choice. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is: Video games give a chance to escape sort of like reading a book or watching a movie but you, the player, is in control of the story or the actions needed to complete it. As technology advances so have games giving people vast open worlds to play in and characters who are more and more customizability. If you could turn any book, TV show, or movie world into a game what would it be? Lead us on an exploration of what it might be like playing this game (feel free to make up your own world if books, TV, or movies fail to give you a suitable choice).

Best Served Cold #SecretSubjectSwap

Welcome to June's Secret Subject Swap. This week eleven brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is: Tell us a revenge story, truth or fiction. It was submitted by: Jenniy of (Thank you for such an awesome topic!!)

Revenge is a dish best served cold. That is how it goes, right? They also say revenge is sweet. Cold and sweet. Sounds like sorbet or ice cream. Sounds yummy and sticky. When I read this prompt, I immediately thought of one story. It is really all I ever think of, when I think of revenge.

This really isn't my story to tell, but I know my friend won't mind me telling y'all, because I have asked permission many times over the years, and she always tells me I can. The she I am talking about, is my friend Opie. She is this amazing woman, who is one of m…
