Load of Bull #FunnyFriday July 2015

Today’s post is this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write five captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

1. Something tells me this meat may taste a bit odd.

2. Bob: Are you sure this is what she meant?

Bill: Mary said to get some imitation beef for her Aunt that is a vegetarian.
Bob: Alright, if you say so. It just seems off to me.

3. Jake: Don't you think you should practice on a live bull?

John: Why would I do that?
Jake: So you will be ready come rodeo time.
John: I am scared of bulls. This will work just fine.
Jake: These won't move.
John: Exactly.
Jake: ....

4. Donna: You should really stop making bets.

Dave: No. I really should stop losing bets.
Donna: That too.
5. Eva: See, BettyJo, I told you their meat wasn't top quality.

BettyJo: It tastes fine to me.
Eva: You would think that.

This picture stumped me. It was an awesome pic, but I literally could not think of anything.

My Life's Villain #UseYourWords July 2015

Today’s post is a writing challenge. This is how it works: participating bloggers picked 4 – 6 words or short phrases for someone else to craft into a post. All words must be used at least once and all the posts will be unique as each writer has received their own set of words. That’s the challenge, here’s a fun twist; no one who’s participating knows who got their words and in what direction the writer will take them. Until now.

My words are:
scrumptious ~ villain ~ slowly ~ kaleidoscope ~ bathroom
They were submitted by: Dinosaur Superhero Mommy  (Thank you for such interesting and challenging words!!)

I don't know how it happened.
It happened slowly.
Or maybe it happened quickly.
One moment I was living a simple life.
Walking around with a kaleidoscope worldview.
Suddenly I was the girl spending hours in the bathroom.
Beautifying myself.
Pampering myself.
Using scrumptious smelling lotions.
Wanting to look my best for you.
Going out on dates.
Making plans for the future.
A future with you.
Oblivious to your true self.
The real you under the facades.
I wish I had always known the real you.
I wish I had been protected.
I wish my heart had never been broken.
I wish I had never met you.
I wish my life story never included a villain.
I wish it never included you.

It Gets Better #SecretSubjectSwap July 2015

Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:
One of your closest friends says to you that he or she feels like giving up. It isn't a suicidal expression, but you can see this friend is defeated and incapable of seeing anything positive. Forget for a minute what should or should not be said to a person with depression. From your heart to theirs, what would you say?
It was submitted by: http://climaxedtheblog.blogspot.com    (Thanks for such a great and deep subject.)

Honestly, I would tell my friend not to give up. That problems come up and bad things happen, but it always gets better. Problems can be solved, and good times happen just as often as the bad. I would tell them if anyone knows this, it is me. I have been through a great deal in my life, and I have wanted to give up, but in the end it always gets better.

Problems are temporary. I would encourage them to get help and to come to me anytime they need. Depression is a serious thing. It should never be taken lightly. It should not be ignored either. I would tell them not to judge themselves or be ashamed. It is not a bad thing to get sad or depressed. It is not a bad thing to feel like your problems are overwhelming. We all go through it.

I would help them figure out what exactly is going on, and exactly how the feel. I would listen and help them sort through it all. I would do anything possible to help them. I would share with them the battles I have waged with hard times in my life. I would share with them the successes that followed the failures. I would share the lessons I have learned. I would try to help them find the silver linings.

I would connect them with the necessary people. People far better suited than I am to help them. Then I would follow up with the daily. Show them that I am there for them. Sometimes, all a person needs is to know somebody cares.

I wrote this post last Summer about the topic of depression. I link to some wonderful resources. If you, or anyone you know, is suffering with depression, you are not alone!
